ALNST till rant

NOTE: this post is about the youtube animated series, "Alien Stage" by the youtuber Vivinos.

TILL IS NOT ALWAYS AGGRESSIVE!!!

TILL DOES NOT HATE IVAN!!!

most of the moments in the show starring till have him during the singing, or following mizi, or being tortured by segyein, or that one flower scene where ivan crushes his flower chain (that was mizi's, i guess.) of course he would be rightfully aggressive during those times, or in the following mizi case, ignore ivan and only focus on mizi. these are critical moments, sure, but they dont sum up his entire personality!!

the dev team describe him as being shy and quiet! shocker, since that's not very common in the show. but he generally is-- if he's not provoked, he's not aggressive. and in all of their screentime (apart from some 4panels) ivan is either watching him Freakily or provoking him. of course till will react aggressively. this does not define him. considering all he has been through, he's actually quite a docile thing, when he's left alone and with dignity.

he actually reminds me of curley's wife a little from omam, but i think thats also a stupid comparison in many aspects... just that letter to clair luce from john steinbeck where he's like, "if anyone were to treat her humanely, she would be like a slave to that person", or something like that? we kiiiiiind of see that with mizi, maybe to a lesser extent.

a better comparison could be crona from soul eater. if you only take the scenes where crona is being emotionally abused by their mother, or just the scenes of fights right after ragnarok has been hurting them, crona would come across as till does: aggressive, irrational, a little one-dimensional. but we know they're not from the other scenes, like when maka shows them compassion, and they learn from it and become a better person because of it.

its difficult to get examples because he's such a nuanced character, and we dont really get much of that nuance in the actual show (as of july 2024. who knows whats so come? ah well, he's probably depressed in r7 anyway.)

but he's not constantly or naturally aggressive!! i believe he has the capacity to be very sweet, given literally any chance.

he's so polite?? and as much as i hate to dote on fictional boys, its really wholesome how happy he is here.

again. very kind response. not aggressive at all. and his thoughts are so flustered. this is clearly not the flanderized stereotype of the angry gay twink that i so often see twitter making him out to be!!


this was not well put together at all but this manages to summarize my thoughts well enough.
